Buttercream Dahlia Tuber
Buttercream looks good enough to eat! It has a soft creamy tone and really beautiful form. This quickly became a new favorite and thrived in the 2026 season.
Variety Details
Bloom Size: Small/Medium (3-5”)
Form: Ball
Color Story: Smooth creamy yellow with warm vanilla tones; soft, sunlit, and painterly
Best For: A go-to bloom for sunny, cheerful bouquets
Vase Life: 4-7 days
Notes: For a while I double-checked this one against both Boom Boom Yellow and MM Buttercream. I’m picky about accuracy, so I even had another grower take a look to confirm my ID. Once we verified it, I fell in love all over again — now she’s a favorite!
🌱 Growing Info
Dahlias thrive in full sun and warm soil (above 50°F). Depending on how many you intend to plant you can either dig a trench or individual holes. Place tubers about 4-6” deep horizontally with the eye/sprout facing up (if visible) and cover lightly with soil. If potting up indoors first, you can plant with neck above the soil line so you can monitor sprouting. Avoid watering until shoots emerge to prevent rot. Once established, they’ll bloom nonstop until frost.
