July / August 2024

The transition of seasons is slowly creeping over us on the farm. The days are getting shorter and the nights are cooler, but there is still plenty of gardening tasks and growing ahead. Over the last month or so, we have had a lot of projects, pulled pounds of produce out of our fields, and created almost 50 bouquets! The challenges of pests and vermin still persist but we carry on.

August - CSA Box #5

Where has the summer gone!?! We managed to start some final crops for the fall just in the nick of time. Our pumpkins are forming on the vines, corn is just about ready to be harvested, and we are about to be swimming in ripe tomatoes. The weeds seem determined to overtake the garden, but we are still growing/going.

These summer storms have been crazy! We hope you all have been staying safe and enjoying the sunshine and thunderstorms alike. Unfortunately, some of those powerful wind gusts almost pushed a section of our corn over, but fortunately it’s still growing (just on an angle). See this week’s post to learn more about what went out this week!

Summer is here! Garlic is harvested. Corn is shoulder high. Onions are swelling and potatoes are on the cusp of coming out of the ground. The garden is booming but also on the verge of being overrun with weeds this year. Farming really is a full-time job! We hope to welcome some of you to the garden soon for some fun events and volunteer days.

June - CSA Box #2

In the last two weeks, we managed to get engaged, host our housewarming AND bring you crates of delicious, organically grown produce and mason jars full of fresh flowers - so we are calling it a WIN! We saw big swells of rain water and mustered our way through a wicked heat wave so things are growing leaps and bounds and forever presenting unique challenges. We are drowning in weeds and fighting off vermin (bunnies and beetles) but thrilled to have some new veggies coming up and new customers to satisfy - LIFE IS GOOD.

June - CSA Box #1

We are thrilled to return to bringing fresh produce, flowers, herbs, and handmade goodies to our subscribers! It was great to meet some new friends as well as welcome back some familiar faces. This year is much wetter than the previous, and we are grateful for all of the rain we have received. We moved into a new house in April, which made it difficult to focus on the garden for a few weeks, but eternally grateful we got it over with before things really got underway.

September - CSA Box #8

We are thrilled to offer a wide variety in this box. Harvest season is here! While many things are slowing down in production, a few things just won’t quit. Many of our plants are starting to finish, and we have plenty of squash and pumpkins becoming more and more visible as they change color and the vines die back. It’s always fun to see what lurks beneath the green, lush foliage as things give way.
